Representing high quality wines to North Cyprus since 2004

Welcome to Cape Wines, the web site for North Cyprus' only independent wine merchant.
Cape Wines is based on the north (shore) side of the main road east of Girne/Kyrenia just before the Çatalköy village turn off, next to Supreme supermarket and opposite the Lemontree Restaurant.

We are independent wine merchants specialising in wines from Simonsvlei, Simonsig and Van Loveren, which are priced to suit all pockets.

We serve the general public as well as the restaurant and bar trade from our shop in Çatalköy.
No mimimum purchase is required, although we offer generous discounts for mixed cases of 6 bottles.

While we concentrate on our own imported lines, we do hold stocks of other beers, spirits and mixers.

Simonsvlei, was established in 1945, and is a Co-Operative wine producer taking grapes from up to 50 farms in the Paarl region of South Africa. Today, Simonsvlei is still committed to the common goal set by one of its co-founders, Sonny le Roux, to provide “quality wines at affordable prices”.

Since 2009 Cape Wines has been selling wines from Simonsig, a family business founded in Stellenbosch (near Cape Town) in the seventeenth century. Simonsig's reputation for quality is unrivaled, and we are pleased and proud to be offering these excellent wines in North Cyprus for the first time.

In 2009 we started to import wines from Van Loveren, which is a winery in the beautiful Robertson valley, approx. 150km east of Cape Town. We are currently offering two dry white, three dry reds, a range of sparkling wines and three rosé wines from them as well as a fine Ruby Port, an award-winning Red Muscadel and an excellent pot-still brandy.

We are now importing a selection of wines from the Swartland Winery which is based in Malmesbury. Like Simonsvlei, this is a co-operative of about 60 wine-growers, but based in an area about 60km north of Cape Town. It takes its name from the indigenous vegetation of the district which is coloured black. As time passes we expect to offer a greater selection from this winery but meanwhile we offer a range of budget-priced boxes and bottles that represent excellent value.

New Products just arrived.
From Simonsvlei, there is a new range of four wines under the brand "South Atlantic". These wines are produced using exclusively grapes from cool climate areas where the sunshine is plentiful during the day but where the nights are cool and breezy, banishing disease and fungal infections to which the more sultry areas can be prone. I am retailing these wines from 23.95TL. The varieties available are a Chardonnay, a Sauvignon Blanc, a Shiraz and a Shiraz/Cabernet blend.

Also from Simonsvlei, there is an expansion to the premium Hercules Paragon range, namely a red Rhone-style blend called SMCV, and the gorgeous Sauvignon Blanc is now available again (both 26.95). And while talking of Premium Products, I have a sensational Sauternes-style wine from Simonsig "Vin de Liza" made from botrytris-affected Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc. It's not cheap but you just have to have to try some!

Coming to sparkling wines, I am now offering another Methode Cap Classique (MCC) wine from Simonsig under the name of Kaapse Vonkel; this is a brut-style sparkling wine made to the champagne method pioneered by Simonsig in 1971, and I offer it for the reasonable price of 29.95. The Brut Rosé is also back in stock at a reduced price!.

There is a new value sparkler too from Van Loveren, "Papillon". It's obviously not in the same class as the MCC wines I offer, but for those on a budget they are great value at 16.95. There are three versions, Brut Extra Dry, Semi Sweet, and a gorgeous deep pink Vin Doux.

There are other new lines. I have a new Blush Rosé from Van Loveren, which replaces the Simonsvlei Rosé which is now withdrawn.

I also have the Cape Ruby (Port) again and an high quality brandy also from Van Loveren in small quantities. Unlike the local "brandy" here it does not taste like it's been syphoned from somebody's tank! I also have some other new products including a dry Shiraz Rosé from Simonsvlei, a lovely, full-flavoured bargain "River Red" from Van Loveren as well as some other new products.

Cape Wines offers free delivery between Lapta and Tatlisu for large orders.

Look out for our wines at Hurdeniz, Bell Foods, Erdener, Sençag and Blue Dream markets.
